about
Olga Solar is taking her first steps into the Australian indie pop landscape with her debut single ‘Tulips’. The playful and honest new track, recorded at Sydney’s Linear Recording Studios, teases the release of her self-titled EP due later this year.
Olga has most recently channelled her love of music making into a deeply personal yet dynamic solo act. A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Olga has worked as a driving force behind an extensive array of musical projects, from theatre to art music, both as writer and musician. However, with the release of ‘Tulips’, she finally steps out from behind the scenes and embraces the once-dreaded spotlight. The genre shift announces a fresh voice borne of her diverse experiences and ventures.
lyrics
You sweet-talk something
I’ll tell you one thing
You’re just a showman
A serial charmer
I’ll disarm you
‘fore you strike again
What’s your business signing off with kisses?
Cause you don’t just send anyone messages from the sky
Making eyes
More than once
More than twice
I would take it as a cue but maybe my interpretation is askew
Can I ask you about the Tulips?
Are you this affectionate in all your friendships?
It doesn’t really matter anyway
It’s probably for the best
And I’ll give it a rest
Then I’ll make this mistake again and again and again
Your subtle hinting
Your words misleading
And I’m trying everything to make it interesting
I wrote down every date
I helped you celebrate
I tried
Memories written
Totally smitten to me
Not to you, probably
But I mistook your disengagement for timidity
Don’t you see that twenty-two was more like twenty-waiting-for-you
And I’m glad
I had fun
But I’m done
Though I’m not, yet
And I’m sorry I probably should’ve been more vocal
But I’m this way - I keep my feelings local
It doesn’t really matter anyway
It’s probably for the best
And I’ll give it a rest
Then I’ll make this mistake again and again and again
Again and again and again
And again
Say that you won’t, save your breath, don’t leave me in the dark, humiliated
Say that you won’t, save your breath, don’t leave me in the dark, humiliated
Say that you won’t, save your breath, don’t leave me in the dark, humiliated
Say that you won’t, save your breath, don’t leave me in the dark, humiliated
Leave me in the dark, humiliated.
